Please don't cry...

Sometimes its very difficult to accept things as they are. When someone very close and dear to you stabs in the back, its not possible to fight, to hate, or even to accept..

When it happens, all you can do is cry. There is no consolation, no hope and definitely no will to
believe in people anymore.

I have an uncle of mine that I respect and admire a lot. He is one of those who will go that extra mile for you.. He's in trouble. Deep trouble. And he's got no one to help out.

He's been stabbed.

And I hope he'll make it through. I can't imagine myself in a situation as he is in.

What's the trouble?

Well, his own real brother syphoned off money from their joint venture to invest in his own private business and now their joint business is ruined.. There is no money. My uncle is practically bankrupt.. And he can't say anything about it to his brother. Why? Because he still respects his elder brother. All he can do is to cry thinking about it. All I can think of right now is how is it possible!! They have never had problems with each other. Why would then one brother cheat like this with his own brother? What can make a person so ridiculously low to actually cheat your own brother who has a family to take care of and make him bankrupt..

Maybe this is why I hate growing up...

I hear these things and then realise that people can take it as if its expected... Nothing new about this one!!

I don't know how I can help my uncle but I definitely will pray.. I don't pray often but I will pray for him.. He doesn't deserve this. He deserves better. I hope he can start another business and do much better than his brother.. Not sure if I can even use that word with them anymore :(.

Management:
*8 Monkeys*.....

Put eight monkeys in a room. In the middle of the room is a ladder, leading to a bunch of bananas hanging from a hook on the ceiling. Each time a monkey tries to climb the ladder; all the monkeys are sprayed with ice water, which makes them miserable.Soon enough, whenever a monkey attempts to climb the ladder, all of the other monkeys, not wanting to be sprayed, set upon him and beat him up. Soon, none of the eight monkeys ever attempts to climb the ladder. One of the original monkeys is then removed, and a new monkey is put in the room. Seeing the bananas and the ladder, he wonders why none of the other monkeys are doing the obvious. But undaunted, he immediately begins to climb the ladder. All the other monkeys fall upon him and beat him silly. He has no idea why. However, he no longer attempts to climb the ladder. A second original monkey is removed and replaced. The newcomer again attempts to climb the ladder, but all the other monkeys hammer the crapout of him. This includes the previous new monkey, who, grateful that he's not on the receiving end this time, participates in thebeating because all the other monkeys are doing it. However, he has no idea why he's attacking the new monkey. One by one, all the original monkeys are replaced. Eight new monkeys are now in the room. None of them have ever been sprayed by ice water. None of them attempt to climb the ladder. All of them will enthusiastically beat up any new monkey who tries, without having any idea why.

This is how any company's policies or religion's traditions get Established.

THE CONSUMING

Pain and sorrow
Forever my silent companions
Quietly reminding me
Of the unfinished
The incomplete
I haven't yet done
[Pic taken by a friend]
What I dreamed I would do
The desire burns fiercely
In the depths of my soul
I've put it on hold
For the other parts of my life
People who don't understand
Even lie by my side at night
The pain and sorrow
It seems to consume me
So quietly it consumes me
Yet so completely it ruins my life.

Who am I?

1. A son.

I have always thought of myself as son of Col. R.K. Jain before anything else. I always have known that my identity starts with my parents and ends there. I am my parents son. But, I am a bad son :(

2. A brother.

I don't respect anybody more than my sister, didi. She is the best friend anyone could have. She is the only one in my family who can scold me, and make me accept I am wrong. But, I have never stood up for her. Never been there when needed. Never. I am definitely a bad brother.

3. A friend.

I have many friends. In other words, I can get along with a lot of people. I have a few good friends too. But I don't think I am a good friend of anyone. People talk a lot to me, but still are always alert as if I am gonna backbite or something. Maybe, I ain't a good friend either..

4. Me

I don't know who am I!! I have changed so much over the years that maybe I have lost my own identity. If somebody asks me, tell me about your nature, I have no answer. I am very different with different people. I always try to be the way the person in front may want me to be. I can't be ME, maybe, because I don't know what is me :(. Life is hard enough without this sort of dilemma..

I used to love so many things earlier, and hate even more. But now, everything is okay. Don't have to many things to love, even less that I despise. Heartless, I am, it seems..

Visa interview! what was that again?

Went to Mumbai for my B1/B2 US Visa on friday. That was one trip to remember. First, I had to wait for an hour outside the embassy before they let me in. Also, its not allowed to carry any electronic items including digital watches, mobiles as well as any zipped items (Wonder how they let in my Trousers :P), any sealed envelopes (remember envelope bombs), and any metallic objects (guess they meant scissors or knives). Anyway, as soon I entered, I was asked to pick a wooden block to carry inside. Also, I was asked to remove my belt and empty my pockets (I had a few rupees change). Finally, they took my interview form and asked me to stand in front of the cabin that had a fingerprint scanner. The girl there was too polite and explained me how to press my finger at the *right* place for the prints to come the *right* way like I was some dumb 10 year old. Then there was a long wait for my number for the interview.

Let me explain about the interview procedure a little bit. You have to stand in front of a bank teller type counter (which has bullet proof glass, ofcourse) with a telephone reciever (to talk, stupid). The interview can last anything between 2 min to 20 min, depending on how much you can mess it up. By the way, by my only experience, and another friend's, if you are a Guju by any chance, you will have a hard time.

Anyway,

So as I waited for my token number to be called (its called just once, btw), I saw numerous nervous faces, just as mine. Also, there were just two types of emotions from the people returning from the interview counters. Either that of jubilation, or, sense of dejection. The worst part is, even if you hide your emotions in case your visa is rejected, you can't hide it. Because you get your passport back! So, any guy with his passport while returning from the window tells you the whole story.

Finally, my turn came. As I picked up the phone, the aunt (lady as old as my mother was on the other side), quickly asked me, 3 questions in succession.

Q1. How long have you been in Persistent?

A. Umm, 2 years, sorry, more than 2 years, I joined on 1st July 03. [relief...]

Q2. Whats your annual salary?

A. [hmm.. Gross or net? What did I put in the form? What if I say something else.] hmm.. X.XX lakhs per annum.

Q3. Do you know the guy who was here for the interview, standing 2 places before you? He is from Persistent too.

A. [WHAT!!! which guy? What the fuck? Should I say yes! What if she asks me his name? Play safe, play safe] NO.

[Pause]....

[More Pause..]

2 min more of silence follows...

The interviewer looks from her rimmmed glasses. Picks my Passport and other documents and thumps them on her palm..

[I am thinking.. Should have had a haircut, shouldve had a haircut.. Why is she looking at me like a zombie?]

Suddenly, aunty says, Okay, I'll give you the Visa.....

[RELIEF...]

"Thanks"

That 2 mins were verrry long, trust me!!!

And I quickly slipped out of the embassy before she changed her mind :).

While going out, the gaurd asked me to give back the wooden block. I searched for it, found it, gave it. Then thought, what the fuck was the wooden block for???? To beat yourself up or what?

I am still wondering..
